100 Fantastic TTRPGs, Which Have I Played?

A list from CraigOfInspiration's blog, annotated with which ones I've played.

Earlier this afternoon CraigOfInspiration posted the below list of 100 TTRPGs to his blog. I thought it’d be fun to respond by saying which of them I’ve played.

Verdict: 27/100 are green. Under 30%. Hmm. I’ve got work to do, it seems.

  5. Alien RPG – sci-fi body horror played once

  6. Apocalypse World – gritty narrative survival played many times, one of my faves

  7. Avatar Legends – step into the world of Avatar the Last Airbender, https://amzn.to/3HY88wz haven’t played yet

  8. Blade Runner RPG – neon-noir and intrigue haven’t played yet

  9. Blades in the Dark – criminal underworld heists played once

  10. Breathless – survival horror haven’t played the core game but did run Renegades, which is based on

  11. Brindlewood Bay – cozy murder mystery haven’t played yet

  12. Cairn – classless dark adventure haven’t played yet

  13. Call of Cthulhu – eldritch horror and mystery played a few times

  14. Candela Obscura – occult horror investigation haven’t played yet

  15. City of Mist – cinematic modern fantasy haven’t played yet

  16. Cortex Prime – genre mash-up roleplaying played the OG, Serenity RPG, a bunch.

  17. Coyote & Crow – indigenous heroic fantasy haven’t played yet

  18. Crown and Skull – story-focused tactical fantasy haven’t played yet

  19. Cyberpunk RED – dark future sci-fi haven’t played yet

  20. Cypher System – multi-genre game engine haven’t played yet

  21. Dark Souls RPG – tactical horror combat haven’t played yet

  22. Dungeon Crawl Classics – old-school gonzo fantasy haven’t played yet, no real desire to

  23. Delta Green – government cosmic terror played once

  24. Dragon Age – video game fantasy GMed the original boxed set a few times

  25. Dragonbane – fast, classic fantasy played once

  26. Dune – 2d20 sci-fi strategy haven’t played yet

  27. Electric Bastionland – dystopian OSR fantasy haven’t played yet

  28. EZd6 – rules lite dice pool haven’t played yet

  29. Fabula Ultima – JRPG fantasy haven’t played yet

  30. Fallout RPG – post-nuclear apocalypse haven’t played yet

  31. FATE – flexible fantasy have played and GMed many times, one of my favorites

  32. Fiasco – gm-less and cinematic played once

  33. Five Torches Deep – modern and streamlined OSR haven’t played yet

  34. Goblin Quest – slapstick adventure haven’t played yet

  35. Gumshoe – investigative adventures Is a system. I’ve played Nights Black Agents, which is a game made with the Gumshoe system.

  36. GURPS – universal role playing never played, never GMed, but owned the books and red a ton

  37. Honey Heist – one-page RPG haven’t played yet

  38. Index Card RPG – rules-lite fantasy haven’t played yet

  39. Into the Odd – industrial cosmic horror haven’t played yet

  40. Iron Kingdoms – 5e arcanotech setting haven’t played yet

  41. Ironsworn – perilous quests haven’t played yet

  42. Kids on Bikes – small towns and big mysteries played once when the 1st edition was available at Free RPG Day c. 2016 I think

  43. Kids on Brooms – magic school mystery haven’t played yet

  44. Knave – OSR rules toolkit (second edition coming soon) haven’t played yet

  45. Lancer – narrative and tactical mechs haven’t played yet

  46. Level Up Advanced 5e – alternate 5e ruleset haven’t played yet

  47. Magical Kitties Save the Day – all-ages storytelling haven’t played yet

  48. Marvel Multiverse RPG – superhero fantasy haven’t played yet

  49. Masks – young superheroes played once, run by Brendan at a Double Exposure convention in NJ sometime in the 2010s

  50. Mausritter – rules lite mouse adventures haven’t played yet

  51. Microscope – epic history creation played once

  52. Monster of the Week – action horror, https://evilhat.com/product/monster-of-the-week/ played a few times

  53. Mörk Borg – pitch-black apocalypse fantasy played Pirate Borg, but not this

  54. Mothership – sci-fi horror haven’t played yet

  55. Mutant Year Zero – mutant apocalypse haven’t played yet

  56. Mythic – game master oracle own it, haven’t used it yet (isn’t really a standalone game?)

  57. Ninjas and Superspies – martial arts combat haven’t played yet

  58. Old Gods of Appalachia – cosmic horror haven’t played yet

  59. Old School Essentials – classic old-school fantasy haven’t played yet

  60. OSRIC – first edition fantasy haven’t played yet

  61. Paranoia – sci-fi am pretty sure I played at least once, in the olden days

  62. Pathfinder 2e – fantasy roleplaying played a few times, was in a campaign that folded

  63. Pendragon – Arthurian knights and chivalry played once, a demo of the new version boxed set last summer at CraigCon

  64. Perils and Princesses – pretty fairy tail adventures haven’t played yet

  65. Power Rangers – storytelling and epic combat haven’t played yet

  66. Powered by the Apocalypse – using the Apocalypse World engine There is no “Powered by the Apocalypse” game, but I’ve played a bunch including the ones previously mentioned on the list.

  67. Rifts – multi-genre roleplaying have played with the Palladium rules (Palladium fantasy) once, run by Kevin Siembieda at a convention in NJ in 2007, have used Rifts setting but haven’t played any version of the game officially

  68. Roll for Shoes – micro-system haven’t played yet

  69. Root – woodland creature fantasy haven’t played yet

  70. Ryuutama – cozy pastoral fantasy haven’t played yet

  71. Savage Worlds – fast and fun haven’t played yet, kind of a misnomer as there are a ton of games powered by Savage Worlds, but haven’t played either

  72. Shadow of the Demon Lord – dark demonic fantasy haven’t played yet

  73. Shadowdark RPG – modern old school haven’t played yet

  74. Shadowrun – dystopian sci-fi fantasy Have played a bunch of 2e and some 3e

  75. Skate Wizards – wizards that skateboard haven’t played yet

  76. Skull & Bones – swashbuckling pirate adventures haven’t played yet

  77. Star Trek Adventures – Starfleet exploration haven’t played yet

  78. Star Wars: Edge of the Empire – grim and gritty Outer Rim adventures haven’t played yet

  79. Star Wars: Age of Rebellion – Rebel Alliance roleplaying haven’t played yet

  80. Starfinder – science fantasy adventure played once

  81. Stoneburner – demon-hunting space dwarves haven’t played yet

  98. Werewolf the Apocalypse – horror storytelling played a bunch in high school over 30 years ago, then again in the early 2000s, my first non-D&D TTRPG

  99. Worlds Without Number – fantasy roleplaying haven’t played yet, own the book though
