"Be Kind, Rewind" (1 of 3)

“Be Kind, Rewind” is a Shadowlight & Personae campaign I’m running in person for folks I’ve met through Raleigh Tabletop RPGs . Set in 2000, it’s “present-day” supernatural weirdness that the party is experiencing on a session to session basis while they’ve all come home for their 15th high school reunion (class of 1985) to a small town in New York State, an approximation of Westchester County an hour or so north of New York City. It’s reunion season for the school, a milestone for their graduating class, and also the town’s anniversary as well.

Dramatis Personae

Jay Bones, a stoner type in high school, a DJ who lives from gig to gig and stayed in town after high school. Has a keen awareness of reality, his reality at any rate.

• Brock, a bartender at the Bear Mountain Tap and Kitchen in the Priory Resort Hotel, remembers Jay Bones from that one time he DJed at the Starlight Ballroom in ‘97.

Lewis, a shop kid in high school, took over his dad’s auto body garage and stayed in town after high school. Has a knack for intuitively understanding how machines work.

• Lewis and Jay Bones are the closest of the group because they’ve both been “townies” since high school. Once, Jay Bones brought his car to Lewis’ garage because one day it started playing “The Weight” by the Band one day and never stopped, whether the car was on or off.

Selma, a research psychologist, is empathic and can feel the emotions of people and things (and sometimes maybe people trapped in things, or things that’ve become people). Moved away from hometown after graduating high school, back in town for the first time in fifteen years.

Lillian, a library scientist, has a photographic memory and can pick up the history of objects by touching them. Also moved away from home town after graduation.

Chaz, a high school jock, who pivoted to VHS home fitness and is a pro wrestler traveling from local fed to local fed, maybe has performed in a Worldwide Wrestling house show or two. Probably sticks close to NY/NJ/CT Tristate area.

Keelan, went into the Army after high school, became all about that life through JROTC, trained in combat, is now a “cleaner”. Whatever that means. He likes to solve problems by shooting them. Back in town for the reunion after being in the service.
