Happy (Belated) Birthday Personae!

This is the oldest S&P-related document in my Google Drive archives, where the date is in the filename (as I was wont to do in the days before more robust versioning tools became available). November 24, 2007. This makes Personae (and by extension S&P) seventeen years old.

The first page of Epic Tales, the rules document that would become Personae.

Originally I’d intended to call it “Epic Tales” as a way to honor and remember Sang Lee*, as it was what he called the D&D group/campaign I played in with him as the DM.

One thing you might notice is mention of Shadowlight front and center, as it was intended to be “the name of the game” with Todd Ehrenfels’ Temnia setting as the stage. “This tale grew in the telling,” to quote Prof. Tolkien.

*Sang ran Epic Tales for a group of us on Saturday afternoons in the summer of 2007 at the Reality’s Edge LGS in North Arlington, NJ. He was a graphic designer and made all of his own battle mats from scratch. We lost him far too soon. RIP.
